The physician
Rafael F. Cruz, MD.
Medical Director & Founder · 30+ years of clinical medicine
A disruptor of standard medical thinking who refuses to accept 'that's all we can do for you.' Trained in emergency, anesthesia, and pain procedures, Dr. Cruz has spent three decades treating patients at the edge of conventional care, and was one of the earliest U.S. physicians to offer cellular biologics, beginning in 2010.

Specialized training
The specific skills most physicians do not have.
Perispinal Etanercept · Direct lineage
Dr. Cruz spent time in clinic with Dr. Edward Tobinick, MD, the physician who pioneered Perispinal Etanercept, to learn the full protocol for stroke, TBI, and Parkinson's. KIM is one of very few clinics in the country delivering PSE with this direct training lineage.
American Academy of Ozone Therapy · Founding member
Dr. Cruz is a founding member of the AAOT and a Fellow of the Academy of Ozone Therapists, with educator status for Prolozone and IV ozone protocols.
Cellular biologics · Since 2010
One of the earliest U.S. physicians to administer cellular biologics in a private medical setting. Fifteen-plus years of iteration on PRP concentration, photo-energization, and bone-marrow-derived protocols.
Ultrasound & fluoroscopic guidance
Every injection is guided, ultrasound for superficial soft tissue, fluoroscopic X-ray for complex joints and spine. Blind injection is a primary reason regenerative medicine fails. Precision guidance is non-negotiable in the clinic.
Philosophy
“Nothing more we can do” is not an answer.
Dr. Cruz is, by his own description, a disruptor of standard medical thinking. Not in a combative sense, in a careful one. Thirty years in emergency rooms and procedure suites taught him that there is nearly always a next thing to try. A lab that was not run. An injection that was not offered. A guided procedure that a generalist does not know how to perform.
He sees himself as a coach and quarterback, a coach, because a patient who does not understand their own pathology cannot heal from it, and a quarterback, because without someone calling the play across specialists, care fragments.
The clinic treats mind, body, and spirit in sync. That phrase is not marketing. It is what it takes to get someone back to tennis at sixty-four, back on their feet after a stroke, back off a prescription that was never a fix. It is why patients drive in from Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, and beyond.

Why he started the clinic
A brother-in-law, a torn ACL, and three second opinions.
The story Dr. Cruz tells most often is not his own. It is his brother-in-law's. At 55 years old, a torn ACL. Three orthopedic surgeons, one recommendation, surgery.
Dr. Cruz asked what else existed. Prolotherapy did. He learned it, performed a series of injections, and twenty years later his brother-in-law is seventy-five, still walking on the same knee, still without a replacement.
That moment is what opened the door to regenerative medicine at Kentuckiana Integrative Medicine. If a procedure could preserve a joint for two more decades when the recommendation was a knife, what else was being missed? The clinic has been built, slowly and seriously, to answer that question for patients told the same thing.
