Prolozone, the ozone-enhanced injection

Medical-grade ozone layered into a prolotherapy injection. Deeper repair response. Same outpatient visit.

Prolozone is an advanced form of regenerative injection that adds medical-grade ozone to the classic dextrose-based prolotherapy solution. Dr. Cruz is a founding member of the American Academy of Ozone Therapy and a fellow of the Academy of Ozone Therapists. Prolozone is one of the most used tools in the clinic for chronic joint, tendon, and spine pain.

Why ozone

What ozone adds to a prolotherapy injection

Medical-grade ozone is a three-oxygen molecule that releases a controlled oxidative signal at the tissue it touches. In injured ligaments, tendons, and discs, that signal does two things at once. It raises local oxygen availability, which supports cellular repair, and it activates the body's own antioxidant and repair response in a way plain dextrose alone does not.

The result in clinic is often a stronger, faster response than prolotherapy by itself. Patients who plateau on standard prolotherapy frequently regain progress once ozone is added to the protocol.

Who benefits

Where prolozone fits best

Prolozone is our go-to for deep, chronic pain and for patients facing surgery they would prefer to avoid.

  • 01Chronic low back pain and spinal stenosis
  • 02Advanced knee, shoulder, and hip arthritis
  • 03Sacroiliac joint pain and ligamentous instability
  • 04Post-sports injury that has not responded to PT or cortisone
  • 05Patients preparing to avoid knee replacement, shoulder surgery, or spinal fusion
  • 06Pain conditions where inflammation and poor blood flow both contribute

The visit

What a prolozone session looks like

Every injection is placed under ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance. You sit or lie on the table. The solution is prepared fresh. The injection itself takes minutes. Most patients drive home the same day and return to light activity within 24 to 48 hours.

A typical course runs three to six sessions, spaced out based on how the tissue is responding. We track progress every visit and adjust the plan based on what the body is actually doing, not what a protocol sheet says should happen.

Call (812) 913-4416 to discuss your case. Bring imaging if you have it. We will tell you plainly whether prolozone is the right tool for your joint.
